It all started with a late night tweet from the official Fox Theater Oakland Twitter account tonight, announcing that Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL will be playing the venue this Saturday, March 15th. On the heels of epic shows in England and most recently a 4-hour gig in Los Angeles, it looks like Prince will be heading to Northern California to follow up on last year’s four shows across two nights at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco.
While details are sparse at the moment, the @foxoakland tweet promises more details shortly:

Tickets went on sale via Ticketmaster at around 10:30 PM, with about 10 minutes notice via e-mail from Another Planet Entertainment, with pricing at $99.50 and $199.50, depending on location.
In late February, Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL took their “Hit and Run” tour to Manchester Academy, with shows that boasted new tracks from the upcoming 3RDEYEGIRL album, PLECTRUMELECTRUM. Their latest single, “PRETZELBODYLOGIC”, can be found here: http://smarturl.it/3egpretzel
Last week Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL made a splash in Los Angeles with back-to-back shows at Hollywood Palladium, with a 3+ hour show on Saturday night featuring more than 50 songs.
Rock Subculture Journal plans to cover this show, though it is not known at this point if photography will be permitted (the two shows I covered last year were narrative-only).
