Alternative rock band The Smithereens are currently on tour in the U.S., and in addition to playing their own hits, they are performing selections from the 1969 “rock opera” concept album by The Who, Tommy. The band is playing songs such as “Pinball Wizard”, “Acid Queen”, “See Me Feel Me Touch Me”, “Go to the Mirror”, and “Tommy Can You Hear Me?”, also recorded in studio in their 2009 album, The Smithereens Play Tommy.

Founded in New Jersey in 1980, the band found success on MTV and especially college radio throughout the second half of the eighties and beyond. To date, they’ve released eleven studio albums, the last one being 2011.
