This article features the latest in an ongoing series of “Rock Talk” podcast audio interviews for the Rock Subculture Journal. Today’s guest is Peter Hook.  Peter Hook is a founding member of Joy Division and New Order, and next week embarks on his latest tour as Peter Hook & The Light, covering the third and forth New Order albums, Lowlife (1985) and Brotherhood (1986), in full.  Last year, he and his band covered the first two New Order albums and my review of that tour can be found in a separate article (see: “Peter Hook & The Light Performing New Order’s “Movement” and “Power, Corruption & Lies”…).

Peter Hook & The Light To Tour “Lowlife” and “Brotherhood” Across North America in November

Former Joy Division and New Order principal Peter Hook will be taking his Peter Hook & The Light across North America later this year, performing New Order’s third and fourth albums, Low Life and Brotherhood.  Currently they have plotted out 14 dates in Canada and the U.S. during the first three weeks of November.  The special tour promises to play many of New Order’s biggest hits produced during that period between 1983 through 1987, including “Confusion”, “True Faith”, “Thieves Like Us”, “Bizarre Love Triangle”, “The Perfect Kiss” and more, including B-sides. Of Monsters And Men Expand North American Tour With Added Concert Dates & More To Come

Icelandic indie folk/pop group Of Monsters and Men have today added some more North American concert dates to their previously announced headlining shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and at The Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.  New shows go on special pre-sale this afternoon through Artist Arena.  Half Moon Run will be support on most of the shows. They Might Be Giants North American Concert Tour Celebrates 30th Anniversary, New Album ‘Nanobots’, iPhone App

Grammy award-winning prolific alternative duo They Might Be Giants have plotted out their 2013 North American tour (part of a 60-date international tour), which will also mark their 30th anniversary. Kicking off in Maine at the end of February, the band will journey across the United States and Canada through mid-June.  Their latest studio album, Nanobots, is due to hit on March 5th, and a 3-song Nanobots EP was just released (find on iTunes and Amazon).  You can also check out their new track, “Lost My Mind”, on SoundCloud.  The tech-savvy band have also released a new iPhone app. [Read more…]

Shawn Colvin Tours North America and Austrailia January Through May

American singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin kicks off her 2013 tour with a series of shows at Yoshi’s in San Francisco (following a special sold out cruise) and will cover a good portion of the United States, Canada, and Australia over the coming months, including some shows with Mary Chapin Carpenter.  Many of these shows will be featured at really special venues, like jazz clubs, and the Grammy-winning artist is sure to impress with her special brand of contemporary folk and popular rock music. Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way Ball” Tour Coming To North America In 2013

Lady Gaga recently outlined her “Born This Way Ball” tour dates for North America in 2013.  The support of the 2011 album started in Asia last year and she is currently touring Europe and will continue to Latin America and Africa.  The 26 date run in Canada and the United States kicks off in mid-January in Vancouver.
